Fish and Flowers

I have been stressed and grumpy and needing a pick me up latetly, so what better way to ease stress than to travel!

I impulsively decided to visit my brother over Easter.  I am beyond thankful that I have the kind of lifestyle and jobs where I just think "Hey, I'm going to leave for a long weekend" and then do it.  And since I have separation anxiety from my pup, Winston came too!

Seattle is BEAUTIFUL.  Like...I had no idea.

And Dathan has a really good view of it!

Now Dathan and I are pretty different in a lot of ways...but it can mostly be summed up that I am Type A: orderly, planned, meticulous, and I like to go, go, go!
And Dathan is totally type B:  laid back, he likes to soak in every moment, and sort of goes with the flow. No plan.

So this was a great life adjustment. We would just sleep in and go when we felt like it.  We ate when we were hungry and not because it was time to eat. And we sort of just made up the weekend as we went.   I never really knew how each day was going to end up.  I just followed my brother and my dog followed me.

And by "great life adjustment" I mean that it rocked my world and I didn't know how to function without a plan and had a minor meltdown.  But once Dathan slapped some sense into me and told me relax (in his brotherly way) I was able to "chill" and enjoy some of what Seattle has to offer.

Our very first stop was Dick's.  A famous drive-in burger joint that has been there forever (or so they say).
That was the line at 10:30 am....and that's me eating a milkshake at 10:30 am!

Fun fact: Seattle has dances on their streets that you can learn.  Here are the steps to the foxtrot!

After doing a little shopping, we went to PIKES PLACE MARKET!

You walk down a long aisle where there are flowers to your right and fish to your left.

I pretty much stayed on the flower side and tried a few samples of chocolate that were handed out.

Yes, more samples please!

This is where Starbucks was born!  We were going to go in...but who wants to stand in a line like that for Starbucks when there is one on every corner!

Winston loved it too.  He just didn't know it.

Then we headed to the gum wall.  This was strangely sort of beautiful with all the colors...

and all that DNA from all over the world.

Sorry it's blurry.  I'm not as good at taking pictures as Dathan is.

JK, it was actually pretty gross.  But you gotta do it.

Then we made a quick trip to the space needle, but didn't go in...because I have a dog (and we *cough* didn't have a plan *cough cough*).

So we went and saw a giant troll instead!

This is a huge concrete troll under a bridge...and see that in it's hand?  That's a real car that crashed there!
Winston was brave enough to abandon me and jump down on his own

The next day we took the ferry to some island that I forgot the name of.  This was my favorite part!  It was so pretty and fun and relaxing.  Even though I almost blew away.

Look at that Handsome guy!

We enjoyed a beautiful view during our linner (lunch/dinner) and that night went to an improv show.

The Ferris wheel was very pretty every night.  It changed colors!

On my last day there we went up in the space needle!

And of course had some Starbucks at the top.

And last, but certainly not least...we went to the Chihuly glass museum.

This one was my favorite

We took a lot of pictures because it was just so amazing.

Siblings...

The moment above resulted in the picture below.

Then we had lunch at Pikes Market one more time and then I had to leave. :(

And of course here are a few of pics of Winston.  He was such a good dog!!  He rode the bus, almost flew away on the ferry, got lots of love from strangers, and played dress up with us. I know, I know...I'm obsessed.

So all of that to say that Seattle is beautiful and Dathan is pretty cool too.  You should go visit!
And that's all I have to say about that.
